Join us building SynxDB the next-gen data infra for AI

Synx Data Labs is a U.S.-based startup powering cloud-native, open-source MPP analytics with Apache Cloudberry at its core. We’re remote-first and global — looking for passionate builders who want to make data infrastructure faster, more elastic, and more cost-effective for enterprises and partners worldwide. Competitive pay + equity, flexible remote work, and the chance to shape an open-source project used by real customers.

Database Developer (Distributed Systems / MPP) — Remote (Global)

About the role
Be a core engineer on Cloudberry: drive query engine performance, scale-out behavior, and reliability. You’ll work across planner/executor, storage & IO integrations, and Kubernetes-native deployment patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize core database components (query planner, execution engine, optimizer).

  • Build and tune distributed execution (MPP) and inter-node network protocols.

  • Integrate pluggable storage backends (object stores, block storage) and cloud-native patterns.

  • Improve concurrency, transaction/consistency semantics, and failure recovery.

  • Write thorough tests, benchmarks, and performance dashboards.

  • Contribute to the open-source project: PRs, design docs, and community review.

  • Collaborate with product, QA, and support to ship releases and run POCs.

Requirements

  • 4+ years engineering experience building storage/DB/infra or related systems.

  • Strong systems programming (C/C++, Java, or Go).

  • Deep understanding of query execution, SQL, and MPP/distributed architectures.

  • Experience with Linux, networking, performance profiling, and benchmarking.

  • Comfortable with container platforms (Kubernetes) and cloud storage APIs (S3/GCS/Azure).

  • Good testing discipline and code review practice.

  • Excellent communication for cross-team design work.

Nice to have

  • Contributions to open-source DB systems or analytics engines.

  • Experience with columnar storage, vectorized execution, or cost-based optimizers.

  • Background in Rust + async systems, or large-scale production deployments.

Technical Support Engineer — Remote (Global)

About the role
Customer-facing role that keeps Cloudberry deployments healthy. You’ll be the first line for production incidents, deep troubleshooting, and escalation to the core engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Triage production incidents and customer support tickets; own the resolution.

  • Diagnose query performance, resource issues, and cluster health.

  • Provide runbooks, KBs, and proactive monitoring recommendations.

  • Work with engineering to reproduce and resolve bugs, and document fixes.

  • Assist customers and partners with onboarding, upgrades, and best practices.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years experience in database support, SRE, or production operations.

  • Solid SQL skills and ability to profile/optimize queries.

  • Strong Linux, networking, and container (Kubernetes) troubleshooting skills.

  • Familiar with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, logs/tracing).

  • Customer-focused, calm under pressure, and able to explain technical issues clearly.

  • Experience with ticketing systems (Zendesk/Jira) and runbook automation.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience supporting distributed databases or analytics platforms.

  • On-call and incident commander experience.

  • Ability to write automation scripts (Bash, Python, or Go).

Solution Architect (Pre-Sales / Technical Sales) — Remote (Global)

About the role
You’ll be the technical face of Synx Data for enterprise prospects — design architectures, run POCs, and translate customer needs into Cloudberry solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead deep-dive technical workshops and discovery sessions with prospects.

  • Design scalable, secure Cloudberry architectures (cloud, hybrid, on-prem).

  • Run POCs and performance benchmarks tailored to customer workloads.

  • Create solution collateral: reference architectures, sizing guides, and demos.

  • Support RFPs, technical proposals, and close collaboration with Sales and Partners.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in pre-sales or solution architecture for data platforms, cloud, or analytics.

  • Strong technical background with SQL, ETL/data pipelines, cloud services, and Kubernetes.

  • Experience running real-world POCs and producing measurable benchmarks.

  • Excellent presentation and customer-facing skills.

  • Ability to craft technical proposals and lead technical decisions.

Nice to have

  • Experience with MPP databases, analytics stacks, or data lakehouse ecosystems.

  • Prior startup/early-stage product experience and empathy for engineering trade-offs.

  •

Marketing Manager (Product & Demand Gen) — Remote (Global)

  • Run demand-generation campaigns (webinars, ABM, events, content).

  • Manage developer and community marketing: blog, OSS docs, and social channels.

  • Create sales enablement content: solution briefs, case studies, and battlecards.

  • Measure funnel metrics and iterate on campaigns to improve MQL → SQL conversion.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years in B2B/tech/product marketing, preferably in infra or data platforms.
